Who We Are
First Baptist Church of Westland is an Independent Baptist Church, and we want to be your First place for Faith, Fellowship, and Fulfillment. It starts with growing your Faith through worship services and Bible study classes. While here, you will Fellowship with other Christians and develop life-long friendships and seek Fulfillment through places of service in our church, community, and the whole world through our Faith Promise World Missions Program.
When I Arrive?
When you arrive please remember that we are here to be of help to you. You don't need to be nervous about fitting in or being treated kindly. Our people are friendly and we're glad you've chosen to be our guest. If you arrive a little before 10:00a.m. one of our members can show you to your appropriate Sunday School class. If you arrive a little before 11:00a.m. you can make your way to the morning service in our main auditorium. Nursery is provided through age 3 and we encourage our children to sit with their families in church so that they may begin to learn to worship the Lord with you.
How Should I Dress?
There is not a specific dress code for attendance in our services. However, you will find that many of our folks have on their "Sunday Best." Our goal is to give our best to the Lord in all that we say or do so that we may honor and glorify Him.
What Will The Music Be Like?
We are a traditional church that worships the Lord with congregational singing which will involve songs from the hymnal. Following congregational singing it is likely that we will have special music provided by our volunteer church choir or an individual or group in our congregation. On occasion, we will have a special music group in to sing, as well.
What Kind Of Message Will I Hear?
On Sunday's you will hear our pastor, or occasionally a guest speaker, preach a message from the Bible. Most of our messages are expository (verse by verse), with an occasional topical message every now and then. The messages are sound in doctrine and practical in nature. We make no apology for boldly declaring the truth of the Word of God. We believe that it holds the answers to all of life's problems and that when it is declared it will turn people toward a relationship with God and stronger walk with God. When the message is concluded the pastor will extend an invitation to those who have heard the message to receive Jesus Christ as Savior or make some other kind of decision based on the message just delivered. While we will not seek you out or embarrass you, our church practices what is traditionally known as an altar call. During that time you are free to come and pray at the altar for a period of time.
